[History of mediastinoscopy]

As an important measure for the diagnosis and treatment of mediastinal diseases, mediastinoscopy has a history of over half a century, undergoing 3 stages in its course of development, namely, exploration, mature and improvement. In China, due to historical restrain, though this technique started quite early, yet it lags far behind the advanced level of the world now.
