Observation:

  • A 40-year-old male with idiopathic hypoparathyroidism presented with tetany, proximal weakness, and signs of hypocalcaemia.
  • Electrophysiological studies revealed a predominantly axonal sensory-motor neuropathy with specific findings on median nerve conduction.

Findings:

  • Peripheral neuropathy in hypocalcaemia is reversible with treatment.
  • Normalization of calcium homeostasis led to progressive clinical and electrophysiological improvement in the patient's neuropathy.
