Summary
Two new polyacetylene glycosides, gymnasterkoreasides A and B, were identified in Gymnaster koraiensis roots. Their chemical structures were determined using advanced spectroscopic and chemical analyses.
Area of Science:
- Natural Product Chemistry
- Phytochemistry
- Organic Chemistry
Background:
- The roots of Gymnaster koraiensis are a potential source of bioactive natural compounds.
- Polyacetylene glycosides represent a class of compounds with diverse biological activities.
Purpose of the Study:
- To isolate and elucidate the chemical structures of novel compounds from Gymnaster koraiensis roots.
- To characterize the specific structures of gymnasterkoreasides A and B.
Main Methods:
- Isolation of compounds using chromatographic techniques.
- Structure elucidation via extensive spectroscopic analysis, including COSY, HMQC, and HMBC.
- Confirmation of stereochemistry using the modified Mosher's method.
Main Results:
- Two polyacetylene glycosides, named gymnasterkoreasides A and B, were successfully isolated.
- The structure of gymnasterkoreaside A was determined as (3R)-8-decene-4,6-diyne-1,3-diol 1-O-beta-D-glucopyraside.
- The structure of gymnasterkoreaside B was elucidated as (3R)-8-decene-4,6-diyne-1,3-diol 1-O-beta-D-apiofuranosyl-(1-->6)-beta-D-glucopyraside.
Conclusions:
- The study successfully identified and characterized two new polyacetylene glycosides from Gymnaster koraiensis.
- The findings contribute to the understanding of the chemical constituents of Gymnaster koraiensis and the diversity of polyacetylene glycosides.
