Changes in how we pay for health care, an increasingly rapid rate of technological and medical innovation, the introduction of competition, the development of systems, the growth of complementary medicine and a host of other changes have made it hard for health care leaders to maintain unity and a spirit of collegiality that were once hallmarks of the field.
