The mandate and challenge of increasing diversity in healthcare management
1Evanston Hospital, Evanston, Illinois, USA.
Abstract:
The leaders of healthcare institutions should reflect the diversity of the communities they serve and the diversity of the patients and families who need care. The challenge is one of removing barriers and eliminating naivety as to the importance of diversity, how to achieve it and how to manage it. If we are to assure excellence in healthcare management, hospitals and health systems cannot divorce themselves from this mandate and cannot divorce themselves from this challenge.
