Abstract:
A redox reaction takes place between GaCl3 and an excess of ferrocene, leading to the multidecker sandwich complex 1, [-Ga(C5H5)Fe(C5H5)Ga(C5H5)Fe(C5H5)-]n[GaCl4]2n, which features an array of alternating Ga(I) and Fe(II) ions bridged by cyclopentadienyl moieties.
