Total hip replacement surgery reduces bone formation markers serum osteocalcin (OC) and serum bone-specific alkaline phosphatase (BSAP) significantly. Bone resorption markers (NTx) did not change, suggesting uncoupled bone turnover and potential bone loss after hip surgery.
