    Background:

    • Poverty alleviation programs in rural areas often integrate family planning services.
    • Group-based credit initiatives aim to empower the rural poor through self-employment.
    • Understanding the impact of these integrated programs on contraceptive use is crucial for public health policy.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the impact of three distinct credit programs on the current rate of contraception.
    • To determine if credit programs, when combined with family planning activities, influence contraceptive uptake.
    • To identify factors associated with increased contraceptive use in rural populations.

    Related Experiment Videos

  • Comparative evaluation of three credit programs: BRAC, BRDB RD-12, and Grameen Bank.
  • Statistical analysis to determine the significance of program effects on contraception rates.
  • Main Results:

    • The BRAC and Grameen Bank programs demonstrated a statistically significant positive impact on current contraceptive use.
    • The BRDB RD-12 program did not show a significant impact on contraception rates.
    • Female and male education, as well as child survivorship, were found to have independent positive effects on contraceptive use.

    Conclusions:

    • Targeted credit programs like BRAC and Grameen Bank can be effective tools for promoting contraception in rural areas.
    • Program design and implementation play a critical role in achieving desired public health outcomes.
    • Socioeconomic factors such as education and child survival are important determinants of family planning adoption.
