"This paper combines inferences about the unknown population of illegal aliens with apprehension data and economic indicators to estimate the separate effects of enforcement activity and economic changes on the stock of illegal aliens in the United States. This method offers a substantial improvement over previous empirical estimates based solely on apprehension data."
