Summary

Chronic actinic dermatitis (CAD) is a debilitating photosensitivity disorder. Low-dose cyclosporine-A offers a promising, effective treatment option for managing CAD, controlling the disease with minimal side effects.

  • Diagnostic evaluations revealed positive patch tests to isoeugenol and photo-patch tests to phenothiazine.

Findings:

  • Initial treatments with beta-carotene, photoprotectors, and oral steroids provided temporary relief but were associated with relapses.
  • Cyclosporine-A demonstrated efficacy, with a low maintenance dose (1.5 mg/kg/day) achieving disease control without significant adverse effects.
