Summary

Aberrant right subclavian artery is an anatomical variation found incidentally during angiography. Though asymptomatic in these cases, recognizing this anomaly is crucial for neurovascular procedures.

Background:

  • Aberrant right subclavian artery (ARSA) is a congenital anomaly.
  • Its clinical significance in neurovascular disease is not well-defined.

Observation:

  • Three patients with ARSA were identified via conventional angiography.
  • ARSA was incidentally detected in patients presenting with cerebrovascular events.

Findings:

  • ARSA was asymptomatic in all three patients.
  • Associated conditions included cerebral infarction, intracranial atherosclerosis, and subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Implications:

  • Awareness of ARSA is vital for accurate interpretation of diagnostic neuroangiography.
  • Knowledge of this variation aids in planning and executing interventional neuroradiology procedures safely.
