Summary
Local antibiotic therapy effectively reduced Porphyromonas gingivalis and Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans in periodontitis patients, but did not fully eradicate them. Systemic antibiotics further reduced these bacteria, though complete eradication remained challenging.
