Summary

This case report details an extremely rare instance of gallbladder cancer metastasizing to the gingiva. Advanced gallbladder cancer diagnosis is common, but oral soft tissue metastasis is highly unusual.

Background:

Gallbladder cancer frequently presents at advanced stages, with liver and lymph node metastases being common.
Metastasis to distant organs is characteristic of advanced gallbladder cancer.
Oral soft tissue metastasis is an exceptionally rare manifestation of any malignancy.

Observation:

A 62-year-old woman presented with abdominal pain, later diagnosed with advanced gallbladder cancer.
During surgery for suspected gallstones, liver metastases were identified.
Postoperative staging revealed lung and bone metastases, alongside a novel gingival tumor.

Findings:

Histopathological analysis confirmed the gingival tumor as a metastasis from the primary gallbladder cancer.

This represents the first reported case of gallbladder cancer metastasizing to the oral soft tissue.

The patient had a poor response to chemotherapy, succumbing to the disease within five months.

Implications:

This case highlights the potential for unusual metastatic patterns in advanced gallbladder cancer.
It underscores the importance of thorough physical examination, including the oral cavity, in patients with advanced cancers.
Further research may be warranted to understand the mechanisms behind rare metastatic sites in gallbladder cancer.
