Background:

Complex aortic diseases often necessitate innovative treatment strategies.
The integration of endovascular and surgical techniques presents a potential solution for challenging cases.

Observation:

A retrospective review analyzed 27 patients with thoracic aortic aneurysms treated with stent-graft implantation between 1998 and 2001.
Eight patients underwent a combined endovascular and surgical procedure due to complex aortic pathology.
In five cases, vessel relocation procedures were performed to ensure adequate landing zones for stent grafts.

Findings:

One patient (12.5%) experienced mortality due to intestinal bleeding and bowel infarction.
No neurological complications were reported among the treated patients.
