Abstract
Background:
Damage to the dentist's hearing because of the popularity of the air turbine has been the subject of many articles, but no conclusive proof has been given that the turbine is a health factor.
Overview:
The author provides a historical review of the literature regarding hearing loss among dentists.
Conclusions:
In light of the inconclusive results of the literature review, the author recommends that further studies be conducted.
