Objective:
This study was aimed to evaluate the potentiality for the use of apoptosis cells count as a chemosensitivity testing in vitro for ovarian cancer.
Methods:
An end-labelling assay was used to determine the apoptosis cells of 4 specimens of fresh ovarian cancer cells and the results were compared with that of ATP assay.
Results:
It was found that chemotherapy can induce apoptosis, and the same chemotherapeutic agent can induce different apoptosis cells for different cancers.
Conclusion:
The observed agreement between apoptosis cells count and ATP assay was 0.75. The above data demonstrate that apoptosis cells count can be used as a chemosensitivity testing for ovarian cancer, and a combination of these two methods may improve the clinical effects of chemotherapeutic agents.
