  • Pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS) is a benign intra-articular tumor.
  • Patients with PVNS face a risk of local recurrence after surgery.
  • Predictive factors for PVNS recurrence remain unclear.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To identify clinicopathologic factors associated with PVNS recurrence.
  • To compare patients with and without recurrence after primary surgery.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective review of 43 patients (25 recurrent, 18 non-recurrent PVNS).
  • Analysis of medical records and surgical notes.
  • Comparison of proliferative activity (MIB-1 index) and DNA ploidy using digital image analysis.
