Summary

A pediatric capillary hemangioma infiltrating the ulnar nerve caused elbow pain and hand dysfunction. Combined surgical decompression and cortisone therapy led to tumor reduction and significant nerve function recovery.

Observation:

  • A 15-year-old boy presented with a painful right elbow mass and ulnar nerve dysfunction.
  • Imaging revealed a tumor along the ulnar nerve.
  • Histopathology confirmed a capillary hemangioma infiltrating the nerve.

Findings:

  • Surgical decompression of the ulnar nerve was performed.
  • Combined therapy with surgery and oral cortisone (5 mg/kg/day for 4 weeks) resulted in rapid tumor shrinkage.
  • Near-complete recovery of ulnar nerve sensory and motor function was achieved.
