Summary

Circulating levels of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1), soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (sVCAM-1), and soluble P-selectin (sP-selectin) are lower in people of African origin. These findings may explain the lower coronary heart disease risk in this group.
