Vertical alveolar ridge augmentation using mandibular bone cores effectively restored bone defects. This technique enabled successful dental implant placement and improved aesthetics in the anterior maxilla.

  • A patient with localized vertical bone defects (7mm right, 6mm left) around maxillary lateral incisors was treated.
  • Two bone cores were harvested from the mandibular symphysis using a trephine.
  • These bone cores were used for vertical ridge augmentation in the anterior maxilla.

Findings:

  • Vertical augmentation of 5mm (right) and 4mm (left) was achieved after 5 months.
  • The ridge width also increased, facilitating favorable implant positioning.
