Abstract:
Laboratory experiments have been carried out on natural convection in a rotating layer of liquid heated from below. A distinguishing feature of these experiments is an excellent thermal insulation of the layer boundaries. As a result, large-scale convection structures form. Laboratory analogs of the early stages of development of tropical cyclones have been obtained.
