[Beta-carotene and prevention of lung carcinoma]

The recent findings are critically reviewed on metabolism, pharmacokinetics, both nutritional and biochemical epidemiology, and the probable mechanisms of chemopreventive action. Some recommendations of practical value are highlighted.
