Area of Science:

  • Electrochemistry
  • Biosensors
  • Analytical Chemistry

Background:

  • Azidothymidine (AZT) is a crucial antiretroviral drug.
  • Accurate quantification of AZT is essential for pharmaceutical quality control.
  • Development of sensitive and reusable detection methods is needed.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To construct and validate a novel amperometric immunosensor for azidothymidine (AZT) detection.
  • To evaluate the sensor's performance in pharmaceutical formulations.
  • To assess the regenerability and reliability of the developed immunosensor.

Main Methods:

  • Fabrication of an amperometric immunosensor using diamond paste (diamond powder and paraffin oil) impregnated with anti-AZT antibodies.
  • Electrochemical detection of AZT at a potential of +240 mV vs. Ag/AgCl.
