Physostigmine (PHYS) significantly reduced the apnea/hypopnea index (AHI) in patients with obstructive sleep apnea, particularly during REM sleep. This cholinesterase inhibitor shows promise as a novel treatment option.

- PHYS may represent a potential new therapeutic strategy for OSA, warranting further long-term investigation.
- Correlations suggest that baseline heart rate and BMI may influence treatment response in OSA patients.
