Summary

A rare bladder tumor, a symplastic leiomyoma, was found in a pregnant woman. It was surgically removed after delivery and confirmed by histology.

Background:

  • Bladder tumors are uncommon during pregnancy.
  • Leiomyomas are benign smooth muscle tumors, rarely found in the bladder.

Observation:

  • A hypogastric mass was detected during a routine antenatal checkup in the 7th month of pregnancy.
  • The mass showed significant growth as the pregnancy progressed.

Findings:

  • Surgical excision of the bladder tumor was performed three months postpartum.
  • Histopathological analysis confirmed the tumor as a symplastic leiomyoma.

Implications:

  • This case highlights the importance of investigating unexpected masses during pregnancy.
  • Complete surgical resection is an effective treatment for bladder symplastic leiomyomas.
  • Further research may elucidate the behavior of these rare tumors during gestation.
