  • To assess the opsonizing capacity of fluids from different body compartments.
  • To compare immune responses in infected mice with sham-operated and normal controls.

    • Peripheral blood immune parameters do not reliably indicate the local inflammatory status in intra-abdominal abscesses.
    • A comprehensive understanding of infection requires evaluating immune responses directly at the site of inflammation.
