[The role of the hospital nurse in teaching patients]

Patient teaching by hospital nurse has been recognized as a relevant form of a patient care throughout the history of nursing. However, there are obstacles to carry on this practice. On the basis of the experience reported in the literature, the present study analyses factors which hinder the widespread use of this practice.
