Abstract:
Methamphetamine (MAP) is a drug of abuse that has steadily gained in popularity. Repeated use of MAP can cause drug dependence that may lead to serious psychiatric and neurologic signs and symptoms in users. It has recently become accepted that multidirectional communication exists among the immune, hormonal, and central nervous systems. Thus, it is suggested that these communications play an important role in drug dependence. Here we review the role of cytokines in drug dependence.
