Summary

Researchers discovered a novel Autographa californica nuclear polyhedrosis virus (AcMNPV) gene, ctl, encoding a secreted protein similar to conotoxins. However, deleting this gene did not affect viral infection kinetics or virulence in insects, leaving its biological role unclear.
