[Cryotherapy of corneal burns]

Presented are the results of treatment of 59 patients with severe chemical and thermal burns of the cornea who--besides being subjected to a traditional procedure--were also treated by cryotherapy. In the majority of cases low temperature considerably hastened the process of the regeneration of corneal epithelium and the clearing up of its opacification. It considerably influenced the shortening of the treatment period and the improvement of the visual acuity.
