Minimally invasive vein surgery: ambulatory phlebectomy

Ambulatory phlebectomy has proven to be an effective treatment for varicose veins. Alone or complementing the treatment of incompetent long or short saphenous vein by high ligation, saphenectomy, or transcatheter occlusion, ambulatory phlebectomy not only adequately and satisfactorily removes the diseased veins but also results in a series of extremely small micro-incisions, which are cosmetically pleasing to the patient and the surgeon. Furthermore, the entire procedure can be performed under local anesthesia on an ambulatory basis.
