Arthroscopic subacromial decompression (ASD) significantly improved shoulder scores in patients with impingement syndrome. However, longer preoperative pain duration negatively impacted outcomes, suggesting timely intervention is key for better results.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy of arthroscopic subacromial decompression (ASD) for impingement syndrome.
  • To identify factors influencing surgical outcomes.
  • To compare ASD with open acromioplasty.

  • 148 patients with Type I or II impingement underwent ASD.
  • Patients were assessed pre- and postoperatively using a 100-point shoulder score.
