Summary

This study evaluated the use of press-fit cups without screws in 171 hips with contained or small segmental defects during acetabular revisions. Over an average follow-up of 7.4 years, no press-fit cups required revision for aseptic loosening. Three hips showed signs of osteolysis. Cranial and medial migration up to 6 mm occurred in 26% of cases at two years, but no further migration was observed after that. The results suggest that screwless techniques can provide stable, medium-term outcomes in well-selected patients. The authors propose that press-fit cups may be a viable option for acetabular revisions without additional fixation.
