["Defining nursing resources and needs in Brazil" --a document from the 50's in the 20th century]

Describes the document named "Levantamento de Recursos de Necessidades de Enfermagem no Brasil" (Defining the Resources Needed in the Field of Nursing in Brazil) and makes considerations about its importance to the study of the Brazilian Nursing History. This publication is the final report of a research accomplished in the fifties and promoted by the Associação Brasileira de Enfermagem with financial help from the Rockefeller Foundation. It contains the characterization of the work force in the country and the working conditions of vocational schools. It also includes data from the hospitals and public health activities. This essay evidences the main data of the report and considers the pertinence of similar studies.
