Summary

Dental implants placed in extraction sockets show long-term success comparable to those in intact bone. This study found similar implant longevity and peri-implant health after five years, supporting immediate implant placement.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the long-term survival and peri-implant health of implants placed in extraction sockets.
  • To compare the outcomes of extraction socket implants with implants placed in intact alveolar bone sites.
  • To test the hypothesis that extraction socket implants have a success rate similar to conventionally placed implants.

  • A longitudinal study included 11 extraction socket implants in 8 patients with at least 5 years of follow-up.
