Summary

Unilateral multicentric breast cancer (UMBC) shows similar prognosis to monocentric breast cancer (MOBC), especially in early stages. Multicentricity does not significantly increase the risk of poor prognosis in these patients.

Background:

  • Unilateral multicentric breast cancer (UMBC) is a subtype of breast cancer characterized by multiple tumor foci within the same breast.
  • Understanding the clinical characteristics and prognostic implications of UMBC is crucial for effective patient management.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To explore the clinical characteristics of UMBC based on aggressiveness, survival rates, disease-free periods, and local recurrence.
  • To compare the prognosis of UMBC with monocentric breast cancer (MOBC).

    • The prognostic outcomes for UMBC are comparable to MOBC, particularly when considering tumor stage and axillary involvement.
    • Further research may be warranted to refine treatment strategies for UMBC.
