Background:

Uterine mixed mesodermal malignant tumor (MMMT) presents diagnostic challenges.
Correlation between cytopathological and histopathological findings is essential for accurate diagnosis.

Observation:

A case of uterine tumor was analyzed using cervical smear, endometrial curettage, and hysterectomy specimens.
Papanicolaou staining was used for smears, and H&E for tissue processing.
Initial cytological diagnosis was adenosquamous carcinoma, while histopathology revealed MMMT of heterologous type.

Findings:

Review of the cervical smear revealed multinucleate cells, isolated cells with cyanophilic cytoplasm, hyperchromatic nuclei, prominent nucleoli, and elongated cyanophilic cells suggestive of sarcomatous origin.
