Background:
- Familial eosinophilia (FE) is an autosomal dominant disorder.
- FE is characterized by marked eosinophilia, with variable progression to end-organ damage.

Purpose of the Study:
- To define the pathogenesis of familial eosinophilia.
- To compare clinical and laboratory findings in familial eosinophilia versus unaffected family members.
- To differentiate familial eosinophilia from nonfamilial hypereosinophilic syndrome.

- Detailed clinical evaluation of 13 affected and 11 unaffected family members at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
- Assessment of eosinophil morphology via light and transmission electron microscopy.
