Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the utility of mfPERG in detecting early ocular toxicity in patients on long-term chloroquine medication.
  • To compare mfPERG findings with conventional clinical assessments.

Main Methods:

  • 10 patients on long-term chloroquine underwent clinical examination, Amsler chart, color vision testing, automated perimetry, conventional pattern electroretinogram (PERG), and mfPERG.
  • mfPERG assessed retinal responses across a wide visual field (up to 48 degrees).
