Summary

Non-biliary complications during laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) occur as frequently as biliary injuries. These serious injuries, including duodenal perforation, require prompt intra-operative detection and management.

Background:

  • Laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC) is a common surgical procedure.
  • Biliary tract injuries are well-documented complications of LC.
  • Non-biliary complications of LC are less frequently reported but can be severe.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To retrospectively review non-biliary complications during LC.
  • To identify the incidence and types of non-biliary injuries.
  • To evaluate the management of these complications.

  • Retrospective review of 1748 patient case files.
