Background:

  • Accurate electrophysiological data for laryngeal muscles are essential for diagnosing neuromuscular disorders.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To quantitatively analyze the normal duration and amplitude of motor unit action potentials (MUAPs) in specific laryngeal muscles.
  • To establish reference values for the thyroarytenoid (TA), cricothyroid (CT), lateral cricoarytenoid (CAL), and posterior cricoarytenoid (CAP) muscles in a Brazilian adult population.

  • Electromyography was performed on 14 healthy adult Brazilian volunteers.
  • Percutaneously inserted concentric needle electrodes were used for recordings.
