Hormonal sensitivity in prostate cancer is a key treatment consideration.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate the feasibility of molecular profiling for Her-2/neu expression in prostate cancer.
To determine the correlation between Her-2/neu expression and hormonal sensitivity.

Main Methods:

Assessed Her-2/neu expression using immunohistochemistry and fluorescence in situ hybridization.
Analyzed bone marrow and prostate biopsy specimens from 26 patients with progressive androgen-independent prostate carcinoma.
Categorized biopsies based on androgen sensitivity at the time of sampling.
