Summary

Testicular carcinoids are rare neuroendocrine tumors. Diagnosis requires excluding primary carcinoid tumors in other organs, as shown in this case report.

Background:

  • Testicular tumors encompass various types, including seminomas and non-seminomas.
  • Rarely, neuroendocrine tumors (carcinoids) can arise primarily or secondarily in the testicle.

Observation:

  • A 51-year-old male presented with a painless right testicular swelling.
  • A 3 cm intratesticular tumor was identified during radical orchiectomy.

Findings:

  • Pathohistology and immunohistochemistry confirmed a testicular carcinoid tumor, staged as pT1.
  • 5-hydroxyindole-acetic acid (5-HIAA) levels were normal, and no other primary carcinoid site was detected.

Implications:

  • Testicular carcinoids are rare and require thorough investigation.
  • Excluding a primary carcinoid tumor in other organs is crucial for accurate diagnosis and management.
