Abstract:
The use of CVL are becoming more popular as medical interventions become more intense and the patients' acuity rises. The use of peripherally inserted central catheters is also increasing because of the availability of high tech medical care in the home and the delegation of central catheter insertion to nursing. The nursing care of the patient with a CVL requires the implementation of strict, aseptic site care and dressing changes to avoid the incidence of infection.
