Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine the incidence and lesion locations of post-stroke hemichorea.
  • To investigate the prognosis and factors influencing hemichorea resolution after stroke.

  • Retrospective analysis of 27 consecutive patients with post-stroke hemichorea.
  • Calculation of incidence rate (0.54%) from a cohort of 5,009 stroke patients.
  • Analysis of lesion locations (lenticular, cortical, subthalamic) and follow-up data.

  • Cortical strokes are associated with a better functional prognosis for hemichorea resolution than subthalamic strokes.
