[Effect of biliary dyskinesia on ischemic heart disease progression]
Insights
Biliary dyskinesia worsens ischemic heart disease, increasing pain and myocardial ischemia episodes. This condition also exacerbates heart rate issues like extrasystoles in patients with stable exertional angina.
Area of Science:
- Cardiology
- Gastroenterology
Context:
- Investigated patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD) and biliary dyskinesia (BD).
- Focused on heart syndrome features, myocardial ischemia, and heart rate derangement.
Purpose:
- To understand how biliary dyskinesia affects the clinical course of ischemic heart disease.
Summary:
- Biliary dyskinesia significantly aggravates ischemic heart disease.
- Observed increased frequency of painful and painless myocardial ischemia episodes.
- Noted exacerbation of supraventricular and ventricular extrasystoles in patients with stable exertional angina (NYHA Class I-II).
Impact:
- Highlights the critical interaction between gastrointestinal and cardiovascular conditions.
- Suggests a need for integrated management strategies for patients with co-existing IHD and BD.
- Underscores the importance of considering biliary dyskinesia in the comprehensive assessment and treatment of IHD patients.
Abstract:
Heart syndrome features associated with pain, the structure of myocardial ischemia and heart rate derangement were studied in patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD) and concomitant biliary dyskinesia (BD). It was established that BD considerably aggravates clinical course of IHD: increase in frequency of pain and painless episodes of myocardial ischemia in patients with stable exertional angina I-II functional classes by NYHA and single supraventricular and ventricular extrasystoles.

Atherosclerosis, the primary malefactor, orchestrates this dangerous condition. It manifests as the accumulation of fatty deposits, akin to insidious plaques, within arterial walls. As time elapses, these plaques metamorphose, hardening and narrowing...
