Ascorbic acid biosynthesis in hens producing strong and weak eggshells

Eggshell strength decline in aged hens is not linked to lower ascorbic acid (vitamin C) biosynthesis. This study found no evidence that reduced vitamin C production causes weaker eggshells in layers.
