Abstract:
Anticipatory care among the general population, not only care of patients, would enhance the effectiveness of primary health care. By changing strategy the general practitioner can detect everyone with certain risk factors and all persons with certain presymptomatic diseases. More important, population medicine would provide better care for people with chronic diseases and engage the GPs in practical public health-oriented work.
