Primary omental pregnancy: case report.

Summary

Omental pregnancy, a rare ectopic pregnancy, was diagnosed during surgery in a woman with severe abdominal pain. This case highlights a primary omental pregnancy without adnexal involvement, a unique finding in medical literature.

Background:

Omental pregnancy is an exceptionally rare form of ectopic pregnancy.
Most reported cases are secondary to other ectopic pregnancies.

Observation:

A 28-year-old woman presented with severe abdominal pain and no menstrual delay.
Ultrasonography revealed free peritoneal fluid but no intrauterine or adnexal gestational sac.
Laparotomy showed intact tubes and ovaries, with the pregnancy located in the omentum.

Findings:

A primary omental pregnancy was diagnosed and surgically managed via partial omentectomy.
This represents a rare instance of primary omental pregnancy without concurrent adnexal involvement.
The patient had no history of contraceptive use.
