Cystic parotomegaly in an HIV-seropositive patient. A case report

The case of a middle-aged woman with a 1-year history of painless, bilateral parotid gland enlargement is reported. The clinical signs and immunological markers of Sjögren's syndrome were absent. Serology for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) was positive and radiological findings were characteristic of a well-described, HIV-associated cystic parotomegaly. Attention of clinicians is drawn to this clinical presentation, which may precede classic AIDS stigmata by several years.
